nice reveal, jessica. over to you. >>reporter: thanks so much. question 7 is a referendum on the ballot in maryland. if passed it would greatly expand table gaming in maryland, by adding table games at current and planned spots. it would increase the statewide cap on slots, and it would allow an additional casino, possibly in prince george's county. now, if you vote yes, that means more gambling, simply. supporters say a yes vo will boost the maryland education trust fund, tens of millions of dollars from these new revenue streams. they also argue that jobs are going to be created, a new casino will help transform nawcial harbor into a full- blown resort destination. if you vote known, the current constitutional limitations regarding gambling would stand. opponents say the revenue from this will not go to boost maryland's schools. they also say it's going to go into the education trust to be used to free up existing revenue streams for other purposes. the new measure also allows tax rates to go lower for casinos and they're arguing not as many jo

jessica. >>reporter: good morning. well, up until today 32 states have voted on the legality of same-sex marriage and in all cases, the voters have said no. well, today question 6 goes to the voters of maryland, along with three other states, all votes are expected to be incredibly close. if you vote yes on question 6, what this means is same-sex couples will be allowed to marry in maryland starting january 1st. the law also protects clergy from having to protect the ceremonies in violation of their religious beliefs. if you vote no on question 6, you will actually be voting down the civil marriage protection act. this was a measure signed into law by the governor on march 1st. this referendum will allow voters to veto that law and essentially ban same-sex marriage in the state of maryland. in both maryland and washington state, gay marriage laws were approved by lawmakers and signed by the governors earlier this year, but opponents gathered enough signatures to actually challenge these laws. gay marriage is currently

jessica, what are the specifics of this offer tonight? >> reporter: hi, wolf. according to senior officials on both sides of the aisle, the president is asking for $1.6 trillion in new taxes. that includes raising taxes for families who make $250,000 or more. you'll recognize that as a pledge from his campaign. and it also includes limiting deductions and loopholes as well as other changes to capital gains and dividends taxes. well, that is the headline for republicans, wolf, who say it is far more money in tax rates than they ever expected to hear from the white house in any offer. moving on to some other aspects of the proposal, secretary geithner on capitol hill also outlined in this plan an intention to extend unemployment insurance, $50 billion in stimulus for next year, and creating some kind of permanent mechanism to extend the debt limit so we don't repeat a crisis like last summer. now, what would they get in return? what would the white house give? the proposal is they would offer $400 billion in medicare and other entitlement savings but exactly what
