. >> hello again, i'm jessica kartalija. >> don scott, here's what people will be talking about today, we may not be able to see snow like the north's but we're not out of the woods yet. the threat of high winds is out there and a winter storm and high-wind watch goes into effect for many areas. live with first warning coverage. more on high winds in the area, first marty in the weather center is tracking the system. >>> good afternoon. let's go ahead and talk about what is happening and what will go on. here's first-warning doppler radar. we haven't had any issues at this point but the winds are starting to fire up and going to be some light snow showers banding into the area. we'll touch on that. winter storm warnings are through the afternoon and the overnight and where the watch is. notice the dark tan, that covers the entire graphic. we now ad the high-wind warning into the mix. we have this deep area of low pressure, it's starting to become a very impressive feature on the satellite photo i'll show you. as predicted, the winds firing up and coming around the low and that is help

jessica kartalija is live at penn station, with more on the headache this storm has created. jessica? >> reporter: the good news, denise, no cancellations as of yet here at penn station. though several trains have been delayed. meanwhile, we've seen several passengers from bwi marshall make their way here, just trying to get home. >> washington, d.c., all aboard, please. >> reporter: at penn station, train travelers try to beat the snow. >> i'm just going to go to new jersey with my aunt. because i know it's going to snow there, too. but not as much as here. >> reporter: amtrak cancelted -- canceled most trains heading south of d.c. but in baltimore, the train schedule is right on track. >> i'm actually going home for the winter break to see my family. so my father doesn't like to drive up in this weather. so i'm going to take the train home so he doesn't have to make the trip up here. >> reporter: transportation officials here say absolutely every train headed northbound is sold out. >> the trains are filling up. almost all of them are packed. so i had to find a seat all the

we're live at penn station here in baltimore, i'm jessica kartalija, wjz eyewitness news. >> all right, thank you, jessica. >>> are motorists heeding the advice and staying off the road? first warning weather coverage continues with sharon gibala at wjz traffic control. >> reporter: well, things are actually picking up outside. we do have plenty of snow on the roads now. we also have plenty of accidents. one blocking all lanes of eastbound at magacy bridge road. on 70, westbound, past woord vine road. there's a wreck there. another on westbound 40, at 29. in towson, watch for a wreck on ruckston road at jack frost lane. and in the city, two accidents there. elsnor. meantime, in ashdean, we still have that dump truck that lost its load, blocking all lanes of paradise road at i-95. your alternate there is going to be churchville road. and on 50, in the eastbound lanes, at cape st. claire road, we have an accident there. meantime, as far as delays go, there's a look at your three slowest spots outside. all roads in the major roadways now starting to be in the 30s and the 40s. so motorists
