that is where jessica schneider joins us. jessica, bring us up to date on the investigation. >> reporter: christine, we are hearing that rahami is not being cooperative so far with investigators who want to glean information from him and not talking to police. what we do know is rahami now faces a litany of state charges. he is facing five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement official and being held on $5.2 million bail. while the manhunt itself is complete, the investigation is ramping up. investigators want to know if rahami was helped by anyone in the plot and if he has ties to foreign terror groups. we know he spent a significant amount of time overseas in afghanistan where he was born and pakistan where he married a woman in 2011. we know he spent significant time in quetta, afghanistan from 2013 to 2014. we know quetta has a strong taliban stronghold. every time he came back to the united states, he went through secondary screening in immigration. he was never flagged. now investigators want to know if he was

this press conference from the nypd and from new york city mayor bill de blasio let's bring in jessica schneider. jessica, new york governor cuomo just told reportser there is far they do not know of any link with international terrorism. was there any other new information he shared? >> reporter: you know, governor cuomo, jake, said that the property damage at the building where this explosion occurred is significant. the explosion occurring just down west 23rd street near 6th avenue. the governor saying because of that significant property damage, it's lucky that there were no fatalities here. there were, in fact, 29 people injured, but all 29 of these people who were treated at local hospitals have all been treated and released. so no major injuries. now, as for the investigation, it's pretty much twofold. it's focused on forensics and surveillance. the explosive device that went off just down the street here as well as that pressure cooker that was found four blocks north of here on west 27th, both of those and the debris from it have been taken to fbi lab. the fbi lab down in quantico, virg

jessica schneider is following this for us this morning. she has more.g, carol. fbi agents are guarding rahami around the clock and while the federal public defenders office wants an appearance before a judge immediately the fbi says rahami will not be moved any time soon. his wife is back in the united states and cooperating with law enforcement. she arrived back from the united arab emirates last night and she's already been questioned by authorities there. they passed that information on to the u.s. meanwhile, images of a handwritten notebook found on rahami after that shoot-out with police show it bloodied and damaged, and the words on the page are chilling. authorities say rahami praised osama bin laden and wrote ominously on those pages, the sounds of bombs will be heard on the streets. these details as a neighbor now tells cnn she started seeing fires in rahamis backyard this summer prompting here to call the fire department. you can see some of the scorched earth in his backyard right there. she talked to us, and we blurred her face over concerns

cnn's jessica schneider is following that angle for us. what are you learning? >> well, carol, we knew that video surveillance would be key to this investigation. police commissioner james o'neill said it yesterday, and now it turns out that two key pieces of video taken right here in the chelsea neighborhood of manhattan have led the police and the fbi to release that wanted poster for 28-year-old ahmad khan rahami. they're now looking for him as you mentioned. now let me piece it together for you. investigators found two pieces of video, one from right here at west 23rd street where that explosion happened saturday night. the other four blocks north at west 27th. they say the same man appeared in both locations in that surveillance video, and he was seen wheeling a duffel bag. now the duffel bag was here at 23rd, also at 27th. they say that two other men were also seen in the video after the first man left, going in to the duffel bag, and pulling out a white plastic garbage bag that investigators believe contained that unexploded pressure cooker. now authoriti

jessica schneider is following all of that for us. jessica? >> this investigation very wide ranging. you can see a flurry of activity behind me as police vehicles come in and out of what was a crime scene. we're at west 23rd street where the explosion went off at 8:p30. the commissioner saying one of the key components is video. james o'neill saying that they have obtained surveillance video from all around this area from the two distinct crime scenes, where the unexploded pressure cooker was found. the commissioner saying they are looked at the video and we've gotten a look as well. this is a very busy business district with bars, restaurant, businesses, a lot of them. most having surveillance cameras so, what we've seen, we see moments when the explosion went off, you see the burst of light from the explosion. you also see the reaction from the people on the street here. this happened at 8:30 on a saturday night. this is a very busy district. a lot of people live here. they come here for entertainment. there's clubs and restaurants and bars.

jessica schneider is following the story for us. >> this manhunt continues. making it more difficult is that police have not been able to positively identify this gunman. they are piecing together surveillance video from inside the mall so they can distribute it to ask the community for help. based on this video, authorities say the suspect is in his teens or early 20s. the video actually shows the suspect entering the mall without a gun and ten minuteses later, walking into a macy's with the rifle. he shot and killed four women and one man. more than 200 officers converged on the scene searching for the suspect and getting people to safety. it appears the gunman left the mall before police arrived and headed toward interstate 5 on foot. talking this afternoon and this morning, burlington's mayor didn't hold back when he talked about his contempt for the gunman and the deadly attack. >> and, i know that now our support goes with them to help them extend the long arm law to bring the son of a -- to justice that did this to our community. and, our community com

cnn's jessica schneider live in chelsea neighborhood where that bomb went off. jessica? >> that intense manhunt ramping up with the discovery of video and part of it was from right here at the scene of 23rd and seventh avenue. officials now telling cnn that they have video that shows the same man, one man in the two different crime scene locations here in the chelsea neighborhood in manhattan. now, the first video shows around 7:50 p.m. on saturday night 40 minutes before the explosion happened right here one man in this general vicinity where the explosion happened. then about ten minutes later at 8:00 on saturday night, that same man is spotted on video about four blocks north of here at west 27th street. we understand in both video clips, in both locations, that man has a duffel bag with wheels. that man is then seen at west 27th street with the same duffel bag and he leaves it. that's when officials say the video shows two additional men walking on to that scene going into the duffel bag and taking out a white, plastic garbage bag. officials say that inside that garb

jessica schneider is live at the scene of the new york city bombing with all the latest. what have you learned, jessica? >> alyison, we're learning that both of the devices here in manhattan were pressure cookers. the pressure cookers were packed with bbs and ball bearings and other metal fragments. we're learning the pressure cooker that was placed right here was partially placed underneath a dumpster which may have diminished the impact. of course, 29 people were injured. but the placement partially under the dumpster may have spared a lot more people. in addition, investigators are looking at two key pieces of video. in that video it shows one man in both the locations. the explosion location and where the pressure cooker was found unexploded. investigators say that the man had a duffel bag on wheels. it was here at west 23rd street and then he was seen with that same duffel bag four blocks north of here. and then two additional men entered the video. they went into the duffel bag and pulled out a white, plastic garbage bag and investigators believe that the pressure co
