jessica schneider. thank you so much for that. let's bring in former federal prosecutor, renato mariotti to talk a little bit more about this. notably, renato, the justices dodging the question of whether trump actually took part in insurrection. i think maybe we expected that, but what did you think about what you read in the rulings about it? >> very interesting, brianna, because really they've left that binding by colorado state court that trump engaged in insurrection they left that intact. they left standing and it has not been controverted has not been overruled they essentially sidestep that issue entirely, focusing on whether the colorado court had the power to remove him from the ballot. i really think that's so that's one interesting piece here, perhaps, because that what have generated, i'd say some controversial words in a supreme court decision but really what they did focus on in my view, is trying to prevent what i'll call of a very volatile scenario where potentially if trump won in november, you could imagine that

jessica schneider. thank you very much. let's break down all of this with our legal and political experts. and laura coates, this was really a remarkable day in georgia. what's your big takeaway from what we saw and heard? >> well, these people who are trying to disqualify fani willis want you to know that they think that ethical conduct rises the level of disqualification, but they have to actually prove it in the actual case in chief, they have to show that there was a competent interests in this case. they financial benefit that undermines the ability to get a fair trial for these defendants >> the judge was >> concerned more about whether they had met that burden as he should be and that question since up in the air, they tried to talk about playing the race card, the religion card by her now famous church speech, where she talked about why they were targeting and singling out nathan wade, the lack prosecutor on the case. but he's also a moment in terms of the judge trying to figure out what the parameters ought to be.

justices seemingly skeptical of a nationwide ban on the drug during today's oral arguments cnn's jessica schneider is on the story for us. jessica, walk us through the key issues we heard today. well, interestingly, wolfe, this case was actually first brought by doctors anti-abortion doctors in 2022, trying to argue that the fda just didn't go through the proper procedures when they approved this pill and 2000 and then also ease some restrictions in later years, the justices seemed very skeptical that these doctors even had the legal right or the standing to even bring this lawsuit in the first place. and that's because of some of the arguments from the fda lawyers, the government lawyers, and also the drug manufacturers, lawyers they really said, look, the doctors are bringing this case because they believe that they might at some point maybe have to treat women who appear in the emergency room because of potential complications from mifepristone, the justices seemed to indicate that maybe that sort of injury was just far too hypothetical to bring a suit. and then we saw interesting comments from

delay his criminal trial in new york, set to begin two weeks from now cnn, justice correspondent jessica schneider is working the story for us. jessica, what's the judge saying? >> well, wolf, the new york judge is really questioning why trump's team waited so long to file this motion to delay his trial when jury selection, like you said, is slated to start in just two weeks and the deadline for motions was actually february 22. nonetheless, though, this judge judge merchan, he's asking for the da's office to respond by this wednesday to trump's lawyers contention that the supreme court should decide first, if trump is immune from criminal prosecution for this hush money trial moves forward, the delay though really would be great if the judge granted this motion because the supreme court isn't slated to even hear arguments on that issue until late april april 25th, meaning they likely won't have a decision for late june. the judge, though, in this case, is issuing a somewhat stern warning moving forward, he said that trump's team and the days prosecutors, they must now seek permission if they're g
