one driver who has had problems with her prius is our very own jessica yellin. >> reporter: here's what happens. sometimes when you're driving slowly over an uneven surface or a slippery road and you hit a grate or a pothole, you step on the brakes and they don't respond for a moment. it's as if the brakes aren't getting traction with the ground and you just slip, which obviously can be really scary. the brakes respond just fine when you're moving at a high speed or if somebody were to jump in front of the car i'm sure it would stop. it's a problem at slow speeds over bumpy surfaces. i've been calling and e-mailing with toyota about this problem since last october with no resolution. so i decided to try again today. nobody contacted me even to say, hey, we've realized this is a problem, it's being looked into. so they say that toyota doesn't know that there is any kind of braking problem. there's no solution because they don't know -- there wouldn't be a solution because they're not acknowledging a problem and they're cooperating with the government's investigation. >> we're going to ha

jessica yellin is here looking at the story. what have you found out?it is an intractable problem, what to do with the nuclear waste. the topic itself is politically toxic. going back to the carter administration, washington had been trying to figure out where to put leftover radioactive material that comes from nuclear power plants. in fact, every single president since jimmy carter has dealt with the idea of burying it deep inside of yucca mountain, but as you can guess, that is is a political hot potato with the folks in nevada not keen on the idea. every one of the presidents, democrat and republican, and every one of them have passed the problem on to the next guy until now. broken government at the most ineffective and dysfunctional with nuclear waste. it is not like the spent fuel is gone. it is at nuclear power plants across the nation, and that used fuel is stored in vast containers and containers like these go into concrete bins sitting there waiting for a place to move it. now, here is the astounding part. while government has been too broken

>> jessica yellin in chicago for us. thanks, jessica.t 15 minutes or so, right at the top of the hour. cnn will follow the results throughout the night. >>> the u.s. supreme court's decision reducing limits of capital spending by corporations, big corporations, union, special interest groups did not sit well with a lot of congressional leaders. so they're taking action right now to try to reverse at least part of the ruling. let's bring in our senior legal analyst jeffrey tubor. he's with us in the situation room. can that happen, can they reverse? >> the democrats have been looking for some issue to get their mojo out. some democrats, the leader of the rules committee, thinks this is one opportunity. it's kind of populism first amendment style. basically what schumer is trying to do is push a law which says if corporations, which now have the right to participate in plig c -- political campaigns, they have to identify themselves. they can't use front groups. and he wants to bar foreign companies from getting involved in congressional or
