airlines, jetblue, talking about it and others as well, they have to cut prices because domestic demandas strong as in to dissipate in. is that the picture right now? moving enter -- moving into international and domestic is slowing, does domestic bleed into that slowing as well? can you walk me through how you think the next 6-12 months will evolve? glenn: g yes. and you have to be careful what you compare two. u.s. airlines are indicating they have less business than they did in the past because they say americans are traveling abroad now. that is correct. but look at where they were a year ago the second-quarter numbers were fantastic for everybody because everybody was traveling primarily domestic. the way we look at the world, we are very global saying that asia, fantastic second-quarter for us up 40% year-over-year. it through call -- if you recall, asia is slow coming out of growth. in the u.s. we are comping -- long-term, i will not concern myself too much. a lot of things right now i know in one or two years these will normalize and we will get back to where we were originally.

let's take jetblue. so jetblue is telling us the domestic economy isn't as good as you think. caterpillar is telling us the international economy is not as bad as you think. can you make sense of that from those two names? but this is actually the most interesting part, because this is what a lot of people have been calling a manufacturing resurgence, which caterpillar perhaps points to. and the rally that we've seen in oil prices points to at the same time, the consumers get more discretion and maybe they don't want a frappuccino, but maybe they want to go and stay in a hotel, a luxury hotel. and so in the pool, i mean, these are the kinds of things it's not like anyone's crying for them. but my point is you're seeing some real gangbusters kinds of earnings from the hotels, from other airlines that are international. yeah. are people just kind of shifting their money slowly in a way that's going to have significant ramifications? it's a confusing market when you look at the earnings, it doesn't really help. as paul said, this morning, i'm told he may or may not join us tomorr

jetblue, southwest are talking about flagging demand domestically.are talked about a labor market that still has levered so what happens with margins in the labor industry? >> that's probably the correct discussion, thinking about next year. this year, the earnings estimates are pretty easy. we went in with long single digits -- with low single digits. it's within the realm of possibility that we get losses and we expect 10% next year eps growth and a lot of that will be margin expansion. you have to look at the sectors that are able to either have topline growth and or expand their margins. tech comes to mind even though valuations are tough on health care from a valuation perspective. it probably makes sense. some of the work from your equity team really focused on the energy discussion from both the top line and margin perspectives. i think that's how we approach next year, looking at the industries that might have a moat they can defend. jonathan: are you worried about analysts and ups? >> of those levels, i might not have gone down that route. j

jetblue, southwest, some of the domestic focused airlines flagging softening demand and dropping fares, we're told, haven't witnessed that yet. but apparently fares, fares are coming down domestically. okay. that said, how much is it just this great bowling ball of money that's going from one area to another? it went away from goods. it went to services. now people are sick of flying around everywhere. and now it's going to go back into another part of the economy next, i don't know, maybe back to school supplies. i don't know. just theoretically, i will say this. people are waiting for the student loan repayments to crimp some of the dynamism that the us consumer has. but do you know that 45% of borrowers say that they're not going to repay, that they're going to actually just be in default for the first year and they don't have to get repaid anyway? i mean, this is according to a recent this is credit karma. i wish we had more time on the clock because dan green has had a corner of my eye and now he's got things to say and he's not got time to say them equity futures on the s&p 500 n
