in 19 -- excuse me -- 013, i wrote a book called "jfk and the senate" which was about justification jfk's senate career. and so i spent a number of months i had all sorts of information about this period in ken's life, and wrote this book, came out in 2013, part of a lot of the book that came out at that time on kennedy's -- on the anniversary of his assassination, so i kind of rode the tidele with a of kennedy books and wasn't sure if was done with a that genre and would move on but happened to be in a book store in washington, dc and i was flipping through a book about the 50 great speeches in american history, and just flipping through the table of contents and i saw that a lot of these speeches were separate by five, ten 15, years, just big periods of time, and then noted two speeches were separate bid three days, it was eisenhower's farewell address and kennedy's inaugural. i thought two big of the speecheses in american history separated by three days? how did people process? have any sense of what was happening? so i started to think about that and then thought but the speeches whi
