cbs news business analyst jill schlesinger joins us with lessons investors can learn from those two extremes. well, first and foremost, good morning, jill. tell us, what are the two milestones? >> reporter: yesterday was the 6-year anniversary of the bear market closing low. remember that when the dow was at 6547? s&p 500 at 676. nasdaq had plunged to 20 8. you can see the progress now. s&p more than tripling over the past six years. meanwhile today is the 15-year anniversary of the nasdaq all time closing high. 5,048. got to 5,000 last week but never took out that high level. >> what lessons can we learn from all of this? >> >> reporter: i think this shows how fear and greed can lead you astray. at the bear market people sold everything and hiding. the problem is when you bail out at the bottom, you have a very hard time to get back into the fray. when you do, it's after markets are gone back up. even after the nasdaq went up 85% in 1999, greed pushed invests into the market in the year 2000. they were left when the bottom fell out, they panicked. when you act in fear or greed it really can
