jim: sure. well, as jonathan talked about earlier, i think the most special one is the one planted by mrs. cleveland that goes back to the 1870's, the red-leaf japanese maple. it is often overlooked and overshadowed by the jackson magnolia. the oldest known one on the grounds and it is a beautiful , beautiful plant. -- there iso actually others that are not presidential. there is a blue atlas cedar where amy carter's treehouse was on the south grounds. we don't know how old is, it predates any records. that is a beautiful tree. and then there is also, one of my favorites -- the common name, do you know? perugia, it is on the west side, the west jefferson mound. again predates records, but it is a plant native to the caucuses. it is in the same family of witch hazel and it blooms in the middle of the winter with these, it has these dark, velvety buds that open up into kind of a maroon flower. they are small but they are beautiful. in january or february, you will take anything you can get. and it

i'm jim sciutto. poppy harlow is off today and welcome to a special edition of newsroom on this holiday week. and we start with breaking news. the u.s. economy adding 224,000 jobs in june, a strong comeback after what was a disappointing may. the unemployment rate standing at 3.7%. let's get right to cnn business correspondent allison cossack with more on the numbers. what's behind this big jump here particularly after a slower may? >> everyone was convinced, jim, with may with 72,000 jobs added was the beginning of a trend. i think june is giving you your answer. it looks like may was just a fluke. so 224,000 jobs added in june. some of this may be students were out of school and they're taking jobs for the summer. but this number certainly blowing away expectations. you mentioned the unemployment rate. it did take up actually to 3.7%. they are counted in that unemployment number. where were those jobs added? high paying jobs in business, construction, 21,000. that's a good sign because the real esta
