let's check in with jim bernard for the latest on the coastal current. jim. >> well, our coastline will be cloudy most of the day tomorrow, but nonetheless, we have a strong southwesterly surge working across the region. swell running 4 to 6 feet and creating the high risk of rip tides as well as secret waves as mentioned before. whims will be out of the west, southwest, and these conditions will continue into early next week. still caution advised if you are out on the beaches and as mentioned previously, always keep an eye towards the waves. >> all right jim, thank you. >>> the gulf coast getting some relief tonight after a severe soaking from tropical storm lee. earlier, 60-mile per hour winds pounded this boat against a pier in mississippi. as of this hour, the storm is stoled along the louisiana coast and it is still dumping rain. how this labor day weekend appears to be a washout. >> some drivers traded their steering wheels for paddles. as tropical storm lee flooded parts of the coast. the tiny town was hit hard. emergency crews ordered people to h

the third was thrown clear during the collision. >>> meteorologist jim bernard joining us now with a look at our three-day weekend. not so bad? >> not so bad. toilally this is the last fling of summer and our cool summer weather pattern looks like it's going to continue for the holiday break as we see temperatures near or below seasonal norms. we did see some cooling with the morning low cloud cover giving way foo mostly sunny skies across the region. temperaturewise, upper 70s to low 90s. back into the upper 70s for the north bay. they cooled significantly today. upper 60s into the mid-80s across the east bay hills and back into the low to mid-60s at the peninsula and the coast here. mostly foggy coast side today and we can expect that again tomorrow as temperatures remain on the cooler than normal side, but barely. a lot of fog moved in overnight and backed up to give us our morning sunshine here for most locations. we're looking at mostly cloudy skies across the region. temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. around the bay this evening and for tomorrow, we'll see the clouds clear,

. >>> meteorologist jim bernard is joining us. jim, we had lightning here last night. are we looking more of the same? >> we had dry lightning last night and more of the same here this evening. it looks that there will be more moisture with that thunderstorm activity this evening. as you see on our high definition doppler. we have a couple strong returns showing up to the east of liver more. and moving in our direction now. that's traveling from east to west, back into the bay. we may see some of that activity yet tonight. it is relatively slow moving. it could produce some flash flooding type scenarios out there. as again, the strong returns are moving very slowly back to the east. there is a bit of moisture and lightning associated with these cells this evening. and also the potential for hail, gusty winds, and heavy downpours as well. so again, we will see that activity continue to drift into the bay over the next several hours. could be some activity in the east bay yet this evening as you see a lot of return showing up on radar, across the foothills. mainly to our

. >>> meteorologist jim bernard joining us, getting off to a new week, how is it looking weather-wise we're looking at a break in the thunderstorm activity across california through the day tomorrow, we saw a few build ups out over the east bay hills there tonight, but that's all moving on now. we look for partly cloudy skies this eveningsh coming patchy in the morning and giving way to mostly clear through the day as once again we see a slight warm up begin tomorrow and continue through mid-week across the bay. today's highs looked like this today as we saw significant cooling across the interior, 7 to 10 degrees with a 67 in santa rosa, 78 in fairfield, livermore 81, actually warmed autopsy few degrees, around the bay it as we saw mid-to low 70s prevail for mostly bayside locations with muggy conditions prevailing as well. again, the weather-maker that's been parked off the southern california coast brought thunderstorms throughout southern california, now moving up into the northwest corner of the state. that is be depending to move and it should clear the state by tomorrow taking

. >>> jim bernard is joining us now. what are you going to say? not to be catty, rit?n the much you can do. >> yeah. it was muggy? >> very muggy. interesting weather pattern around the bay here this weekend. we saw the evening thunderstorm activity friday night and last night moving toward the east bay. pretty much fell a part before getting here and still, a lot of humidity in the air, mid- and upper level clouds across the area and we'll see patchy low cloud cover out there and a slight chance of thunderstorm activity. tonight, we're a bit of a warm- up headed our way and through the midweek. right now, let's look at our live hi-definition doppler picture and take a look at the returns out there this evening. you can see they're well- confined to the high country and sierra at this time around yosemite and to south lake tahoe. last nit, they drifted across the valley and ended up over on livermore and tracy by 11:00 last night. again this evening with the easterly flow, we'll keep an eye on those remaining thunderstorms and see how they development across -- develop

. >>> meteorologist jim bernard is joining us now. is there going to be beach weather for the last two days of the holiday weekend? >> not so much. as the air temperature will continue to cool and with the fog, and the water temperature is always cold, to add to the problems with the rip currents and what not. let's take a look at the details of that rip current warning. currently, the surf is up, but the warnings are up as well. due to dangerous rip currents, as you just heard. the possibility of a large shore break, and some sneaker waves will be with us through the weekend. the conditions will be settling down here through the beginning of the week. this will be a short warning period here, as things will calm down, for the remainder of the week. but for everybody else off the beach, it is a labor day forecast, and it looks like sunshine across the interior, and near seasonal norms, that means low 60s at the coast and into the low 90s, upper 80s across the interior and as we take a look outside, we will find temperatures that are c
