somehow my luck always to follow -- always follows jim blanchard. blanchard, i have to say, for those of us who have had the honor to serve as united states ambassador to canada, blanchard is the model. he was the best, and all the rest of us had to do is try and live up to -- i have no real reason to suck up to jim, so it's actually true. >> so he's not running for office in michigan. yet. >> no. no. unlike the two of you i've never expose myself to the voters. [laughter] when i had the honor to succeed jim in canada, the relationship was in great shape. and jim and i were talking earlier, it probably had something to do with bill clinton, but i told him that the two of us ought to take credit for it. the relationship was terrific, and it does sort of emanate from the chemistry of the people at the top. in my view, bill clinton always looked at john as a older brother he never had. when you think about it, they both came from small rural communities, they both were consummate politicians who were that's thatl
