jim brown, pittsburgh and the washington redskins. and so i do have intimate knowledge based on my interaction with a number of players and owners about the nfl. georgia was a very close friend and john shaw who is president of the rams and chip the new owner are friends. however, having said that, i remained extremely concerned about the plight of football players, particularly, some of the older ones who worked and played when times were even a lot more difficult for players. let me just ask mr. goodell, in october of 2009 issue of g.q. we were told the story of mike webster, legendary center for the pittsburgh steelers from 1974 to 1988. at the height of his career, mike webster was publicly revered as an unstoppable titan and formidable force in the league. and yet shortly before his death in 2002 at the age of 50, mike webster spent his latter years homeless, suffering from dementia while in a contentious legal battle with the very organization that made him a legend. the g.q. article called the legal dispute a battle against a m
