pat collins in alexandria now with more. >> reporter: jim, this is a federal case. five suspects arrested. ten teenage victims, gang prostitution. and they say it's been going on for sometime. they say he is one of them. he goes by the nickname bleak. others with nicknames like j-dirt, loc, and knox, alleged gang members charged with luring high school girls into prostitution. >> the sexual exploitation, sexual trafficking of young girls is an unconscionable crime yielding unspeakable trauma. >> reporter: the recruiting. they approached teenage girls at metro stations like this one in springfield. one 17-year-old says she was approached at her school. others contacted on facebook. the pitch always the same. you're pretty. you can make a lot of money. when one girl said she was only 16, they say that's good. we can make more money off young girls. >> young women including juveniles were allegedly targeted, recruited, exploited, physically abused, and threatened and put at risk for financial gain by others. >> the sex. they were told to charge 30 to $40 for ten minute

pat collins is live with the homicide squad in southwest washington with details for us. pat? >> reporter: jim, he is a dangerous man. he goes by four different names. he has a scar, tatoo, and a gun, and is not afraid to use it. the guy they're looking for is thought to be armed, dangerous, and at large somewhere in our city. he goes by four different names. reynard cook, reyyon stone, don fitzgerald hancock, and demarko brown. he has a scar on his left hand, tatoo on his left arm. what's he wanted for? assault with intent to kill. they say he shot the mother of his children five times in front of the kids. she was hit twice in the head, three times in the body. she is said to be in grave condition. this happened a month ago in the 3300 block of alden place northeast. the victim was there with her three children, two boys, and a girl ages 2, 4, and 6. they say cook comes at her with a gun and there in the street he opens fire. her children watch as their mother falls to the ground. so serious is this case, homicide has taken over the investigation. >> you don't want anyone to approach this ma

jim handly is off tonight. >> it has been described as hate crime and now an arrest in that troubling shooting at an ihop restaurant in columbia heights. pat collinsect in custody tonight. >> reporter: wendy, they say it started with words of hate. that led to a physical confrontation. it ended in gun fire. and today an arrest. the trigger man in the ihop hate crime shooting turns out to be a woman. police today charged 27-year-old leshan carson in the asalt on a 31-year-old gay man at the columbia heights ihop about two weeks ago. >> what we can say is that there were some, what started as a verbal confrontation, then escalated to a p
