eyewitness news reporter jim dolan is live now in paris at jim? >> lauri no question about it the people of france were wounded on friday night but as the work week begins here in paris the french response now being heard as law enforcement has a massive response even as this nation mourns and just a half hour ago azoleon moment of silence here in france the french president taking part with the people. they are broken hearted here to be sure but they are far from broken. overnight there were massive raids throughout the country, 23 people arrested and they think they got intelligence about how this raid started and was planned at very least the raids took some very dangerous weapons off the streets of france. >> we have ordered to search the household of a lot of people. we found a number of automatic pistols and military uniforms and rocket launchers. the police are carrying out an investigation as we speak. >> just to repeat a bit of that, rocket launchers. they found rocket launchers in the hands of some of those arrested overnight just here i

eyewitness news reporter jim dolan is live on the scene in saint-denis. jim? >> reporter: yeah, and ken, this is a long way from over right now. they are -- people -- search for these gunmen for these terrorists is still going on. they did make several arrests we'll talk about that in just a second. but it is a long way from over as this search continues. and it all started right back here in this plaza when police came here overnight in huge numbers. looking for the gunmen who were involved in the shooting and also looking for the mastermind of these attacks and when they got here, bells ringing here in the plaza right now. i don't know if you can hear that. eyewitness news reporter jim dolan talking with one of the victims tonight with one caveat, that we not show his face because three kids were in the house and the burglar is still on the loose. >> reporter: cameras outside catch the burglar on the street before he enters the house in flushing and one in the home's living room sees him as he enlters the house around 2:30 this morning. it took about a half hour going around the house before the burglar is seen on his hands and knees with a knife in his mouth in the homeowner's bedroom. >> they just got in to bed. they were still up. >> reporter: the resident of the house didn't want us to show his face but he says the owner of the home and his wife were still awake. that surveillance camera outside is for security but the one in the bedroom is actually a baby monitor. the parents use it to keep an eye on the children after the children have gone to bed. there are three kids sleeping in that room. at 2:30 in the morning, the parents were in bed as well and they heard someone moving in the room. >> he thought they might be running off with

eyewitness news reporter jim dolan with the story in flushing >> this is scary. this happened last wednesday about the resident in this apartment sound take a look at the surveillance video. you see the suspect first out on the street and then you see him briefly coming inside the home but take a look at this. the owner had a camera rolling in his bedroom and you can see the suspect on his knees crawling to owner's cell phone. the suspect is described as 6'2" tall, about 200 pounds. the snow cap, the diamond on it. the resident of the apartment woke up when that guy was on his knees in the bedroom stealing the phone. the suspect ran away with the victim's cell phone. this happened about 2:20 in the morning. the suspect got away, obviously police are looking for that guy. they're hoping anybody who recognizes him or his clothes, he had that distinctive cap on that had the word diamond on it. police hoping anyone who recognizes him will call them immediately with information about who that person is. obviously this could have gone very badly for the resident and if

jim dolan, channel 7 eyewitness news. >>> now to a developing story. a blood ae y and brutal attack at rikers. two inmates against one guard. the correction officer put in to a chokehold then slashed. josh einiger with shrurfb -- with exclusive details about the guard's injuries. >> the investigation is just getting underway. i've learned from a source close to the investigation that investigators have now found tape recordings of phone calls from at least one of these two inmates to someone on the outside of rikers island in which the inmate was plotting an attack on a correction officer just like the one tonight. eyewitness news obtained this picture of the injured correction officer, the image so graphic and bloody, we had to blur it before putting it on tv. this is the result of what the department of correction calls an unprovoked attack at rikers island this afternoon. >> his condition is stable. however, he has over 20 stitches that he will be scarred for the rest of his life. president of the union and says two inmates, both with known gang aff

eyewitness news reporter jim dolan is there. >> this wasn't just an armed robbery. these men in masks terrified a father and his young son, threatened to shoot the father. the child was worried about what was going to happen to him and then they robbed the store. >> reporter: it's a small store, a mom and pop store that barely has enough room for merchandise and customers at the same time but it got a whole lot extra crowded yesterday afternoon when at least four men stormed the place and demanded money. the owner didn't want to be identified but he was there with his 10-year-old son when the men came in sunday afternoon around 4:00. >> they pointed the gun right at my face. this unfold was the owner's terrified son who was pleading with the gunman. he paused. the memory of his frightened son overwhelming. the child so brave. >> i said okay, anthony, it's all right. >> reporter: the men then forced everyone in to the basement before robbing the register. surveillance cameras in the store were broken but cameras down the street did get video of four men leaving the s
