. >> jim dolan at the scene with the breaking news. >> we just learned that the victim in this case, a 53-year-old man has died from his injuries. this is a frightening story. these two people had never met before. they were talking on a subway platform, got in to a dispute, one of them pulled a knife to settle it. it started at 116th street and the victim actually got on the train, got on the 2 train and headed down here to 110th street where he collapsed and where medics later found him. let's go to some video shot about 9:15 this evening, as the victim, a 53-year-old man was brought out of the subway station by medics, taken to harlem hospital in critical since died from his injuries. police don't yet know what the dispute was about, what they were arguing about what the investigation has slowed trains and closed two train stations. no arrests yet in this case but police are investigating, trying to find people who witnessed this, but again, it's a subway. it's a train station. people are moving and in transition, very difficult to find people who actually witnessed this, especial

but we'll begin with eyewitness news reporter jim dolan with the latest on the investigation. >> there's little doubt now that the attacks in belgium yesterday and those in paris last november were carried out by the same isis cell, based in two low income mostly muslim neighborhoods in brussels. the man long believed to be the builder of the bombs that rocked a paris soccer stadium was one of the suicide bombers who died in the airport attack. the attacker who got away is europe's most wanted man. >> reporter: a desperate father scans the smoke-filled bombed out airport in brussels, praying to find his son in the madness. it is carnage. it goes on forever. the aftermath. a soldier carries a victim on his back. people fleeing to safety. and today the government struck back and raided homes and hideouts in several muslim neighborhoods in brussels, in one, finding 30 pounds of tatp, the explosive used in the november paris attacks. so it made sense when police today finally identified the man on the far left of the now famous airport photograph that shows all three of the airport bombers.

jim dolan in the newsroom with the latest on the attacks. >> you think tensions are high in brussels right now? today police shot a man who was sitting right next to a young girl at a bus stop. the man was care rig a bag that police thought might -- carrying a bag that police thought might hold a bomb. after 31 people died in two police feel they can no longer afford the lux riff checking first. police swarmed the neighborhood in brussels today, arresting three men, shooting two of them. bomb technicians at the ready to handle a package one suspect had they feared might hold explosives. >> the police asked him to put the bag far from him. >> i saw fire in front of my face and around my body. fire literally almost engulfed the four of us. there was fire around us. >> reporter: mason wells is from utah. he has severe burns over much of his face and body. he was about 30 yards away when the first bomb exploded at the airport. >> i was really lucky to not have escaped this more than because i literally saw fire in front of my face. >> reporter: 31 people died in the two attacked, includi

eyewitness news reporter jim dolan has been following things closely. he's in the newsroom for us. >> belgian authorities are now saying there may be two people involved in planning and brussels who may have survived and are now on the run, but they are just two soldiers in what is looking more and more like a vast but highly capable terror cell that remains armed and anonymous and eager to kill. a father frantically searches through the carnage at the brussels airport for his son feared injured or killed in the explosion. the images there are haunting, bodies buried in debris, fires on the floor and acrid smoke suffocating the room, a modern 21st century airport suddenly reduced to rubble. this was brussels on wednesday and it is so far from over. >> i remember seeing an explosion. >> reporter: sebastian fellen is a professional basketball player who was injured in the airport blast. >> i turned my head and i saw all these people running and when i got there, i think i blacked out a little bit. kids to my right and both hands were up in the air. and th

jim dolan here now with that part of the story. >> there are major developments in that story tonight. police believe the man who escaped the bombing at the clothes and dark hat is crowley. they believe he is the man who built the bombs in the suicide vests in the attack on paris last year. those explosives were identical in makeup to the bombs used in brussels and police believe he is the man responsible for the bombs that created carnage in two european nations. >> reporter: in brussels now a massive manhunt for terrorists and what they've found has shocked this city and the nation in the heart of europe. in homes police raided, they found more than 30 pounds of a home made explosive called tatp. it was used at the bombing at the airport. >> a pair of scissors i found, i cut off so many pairs of pants to find massive shrapnel wounds. >> reporter: it was used in the subway attack. >> there was a massive explosion. the lights went out. the power went out on the train. >> reporter: and it was used in the main focus is on the man in the white clothes and dark hat in the now-famous photo
