jim foreman has made his way to the scene. what are you seeing and what can you tell us from your vantage point, jim? >> reporter: well, from here at our vantage point and we'll zoom here so you can see behind me, just to bring you up to speed, this is actually a new stretch of track, not necessarily a new piece of train equipment. it was much heralded, basically cuts ten minutes off of the route between seattle and portland. it's been a very controversial move because of the speeds involved. there is a curve right before that bridge that you see where the train has to slow to about 30 miles per hour according to local folks who know these train tracks and who run them and then something happened as it was crossing over a bridge. now, in terms of where this happened, you can't pick a worse pitch point for north/south traffic through washington between seattle and portland. it is cut off southbound. it will be for some time as you see the train still dangling there. we are told this is still an active recovery -- i'm sorry, resc
