i'm pat lawson muse. >> i'm jim handly. at 4:30, right now, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect. >> let's get to storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell. what's it looking like now? >> under the gun in fairfax county where the severe thunderstorm warning is in effect. it will be ending here in a few minutes. they may have to reissue the warning. they are under the gun through 8:00 this evening. as of now, the strongest, most intense storm is rolling into the western and central parts of fairfax county. a lot of lightning with this storm. arriving in reston in the next couple minutes. washington by 4:53. the east side of the metro by 5:15. that's the track over the next hour or so. inside the beltway, baton down the hatches and be strong for a heavy lightning thunderstorm to come through. this in loudoun county is falling apart a bit, but could bring gusty wind to montgomery county. there's another thunderstorm near culpeper coming out near quantico and i-95. be weather aware for a couple hours. storms fading away by 9:00

. >>> i'm jim handly on the news4 live desk. right now capitol police are questioning a man who was apprehended at the cannon office building for the second time in a week. they have stopped another gun from entering a capitol hill office. this happened shortly after 9:20 this morning. they detected a weapon on a man going through the administrative screening process. the northeast door of canon was closed for about 25 minutes today. it has since been reopened now. two officers escorted a man wearing a suit, not a staffer, from the cannon office building. he's being questioned. they loaded him into a waiting police van. he did not respond to questions on the way in. another incident happened last week, a capitol hill aide pleaded not guilty to carrying a pistol to capitol hill. we'll have more on the story coming up throughout the afternoon. from the live desk, i'm jim handly. >>> right now the mother of a d.c. police officer on trial for attempted murder is expected to testify. samson lawrence is accused of trying to kill his w

i'm jim handly. >> i'm barbara harrison. we are tracking the threat of downpours, high winds and the threat of hail. we are looking at chopper live over slick streets. looks like a truck may have jackknif jackknifed. a lot of problems in some of the areas. >> new hampshire avenue right here remains closed. we showed you this earlier from wendy rieger. we want to go to the storm center and meteorologist chuck bell. what are you seeing? >> the first round of bad weather is leaving. all eyes are going to be focused to the blue ridge for another line of showers to develop. the view from the camera over d.c., a lot of dark skies across parts of southern maryland. that's where the biggest and baddest thunderstorms are. calvert county, the rain cells are headed to the northeast and will be over the bay in the next little bit. it's raining hard from calvert beach to leonardtown and mechanicsville, route 5 and route 2 in southern maryland. expect delays when traveling there. here is the next line of showers developing near the blue r

. >>> i'm aaron gilchrist in for jim handly. >> i'm pat lawson muse. couple found tragedy on a beach in florida. sergeant azari and his wife and 9-year-old daughter were taking a walk on the beach when a small plane crash landed near them. her mother was so distraught he had to be hospitalized. before the crash the plane's pilot radioed and said he had an on board emergency and would not be able to land safely. >> a matter of minutes between the time that the power was alerted, the sheriff's office was alerted and then police department, everybody was enroute to respond. >> it's not clear whether sergeant iziari and daughter were hit by the plane or by debris. the pilot and his passenger were not injured. >>> a thrill turned to real life terror when a cable snapped on an amusement park ride in ohio on a ride called the sky hawk. two people were hurt. the ride swings you 125 feet in the air and can hit up to 60 miles per hour. witnesses described the frightening scene. >> this huge crack and then just people start screaming. next thing you know the cabl

i'm jim handly. a lot to get to today. let's start in maryland, where baretta gun maker usa for years in maryland is going down to tennessee for all of their manufacturing. this is in respoe to maryland's strict gun laws. is this more than a message? is it going to have an impact in any way? >> i was pretty clear from the way governor o'malley an the state legislature was going they have a pretty strong anti-gun record and it was sum mized there could be problems if baretta could likely pack its bags and i think governor perry when he was pushing for jobs kind of angling to get them, he said something that finally got them to leave. i don't think it's a great surprise. the question is will it affect maryland's economy? the folks i' tketoe s d't tthk so. they weren't really counting on beretta for the bottom line. >> you know, this is unfortunate, 160 individuals and families that will be impacted directly, either have to move to keep their jobs or lose their jobs. we need to honor that. having said that, this is not much o
