. >> and i'm jim handly. first at 4:00, a child walks out of a day care facility and no one notices. >> it happened earlier this month at the kid day academy in gainsville, virginia. new charges that the director is facing. >> reporter: that 3-year-old was out alone at night walking around this parking lot. now we know 3-year-olds can walk, but not that well. she could have easily been hit by a consider or snatched. i want to show you kid day academy right over here over my shoulder the papa john's she walked to over there across the parking lot. saw what exactly happened. the child walked out of the front door of kiddy academy alone, 8:30 on a saturday night. she turned around to try to get back in, but the doors had locked behind her. so then the 3-year-old starting walking. she had to cross the parking lot to get to papa john's. she walked right in there. a manager, we're told, was up front. he tried to figure out where her parents were. then he called police. police came and they also were trying to see w

. >> and i'm jim handly. that shooting happened after investigators tell us a teen pointed a a gun. this happened earlier today alock buyers street. >> reporter: police are investigating that incident now. you can see it all happened right back here. they were called here because there was a report of a suspicious car. happened that ended up with the driver of that car was shot. this happened early this morning. a key piece of evidence is taken from the scene. police came upon this car this morning in the 4700 block of byers street in capital heights. they parked there where two men were inside. the driver died. it was a call for a decision to be able to get police through the street. what happened next is quick and violent. the police chief tells how things unfolded. >> as they woke the individuals, the passenger immediately moved to exit the vehicle. and simultaneously and these things all occurred at the same time, simultaneously the driver armed himself with a handgun and tho

good evening, everyone, i'm jim hand handly. >> i'm wendy rieger.s started monday morning when people found a victim's body set on fire in a park in capitol heights. officers made their arrest a mile away. let's get to pat collins live at the park this evening. pat? >> reporter: wendy, the murder victim, 27 years old. the murder suspect just 17. we're learning more and more tonight about this unusual in a popular neighborhood park. the murder victim, 27-year-old rayshand cotton, the murder suspect, his friend, 17-year-old demiko aiken. the scene, the brook road neighborhood park in capitol rayshand kotscotton found behine rec scenter here. he'd been shot. according to documents he was scantily closed and badly burned primarily on his lower extremities. the intersection of rollins avenue and rollins lane in capitol heights, that's where murder suspect aiken and his 16-year-old accomplice were arrested yesterday by police. arrested as they were sitting in the murder victim's suv. this is what police are saying about the case. >> it appears that aiken
