the big talking point from this one is the fourth quarter decision by jim harbaugh. he says let's keep the points on the board. there was big a penalty. what should have happened? >> well, it's easy right now, jimmy. the player in me says, keep going down. maybe you score a touchdown. maybe you don't. but the conservative coach in him takes the points. that's usually what coaches do. players want to continue to go on and try to put more points on the board, maybe a touchdown. >> on the flip side of this, the cowboys had a decision to make out of fourth and five. they decide to go for it and keep the drive alive. did the niners become a little bit soft and playful? >> the cowboys made to win the game. i felt at times, the 49ers were playing not to lose. that is frustrating to me. >> for the 49ers, this is a team that could be sitting back saying we're 2-0 in the nfc west. how does this change the way this team plays football? they were aggressive in week one. in week two they became less aggressive. >> they really did. you had alex smith playing really well today. con

the season sunday against seattle and it is a reunion between college rivals pete carroll and jim harbaughaugh has changed things, not afraid to get dirty in practice dragging the goalpost around the field. i sat down with jim harbaugh for our first installment of coach's corner. xavier oman was telling me he has a pre-game ritual where he sleeps before a game which i thought was unusual. what was yours as a player. >> pave . >> xavier oman? has he played any games yet? dennis o'donnell with tim ryan and we have been with jim harbaugh in production meetings. so far in the preseason, difficult guy to gauge to figure out. we don't even know who will be playing tonight what do you think jim harbaugh's expectations are of himself? >> i think jim expects to be competitive no question about it. they are going to be strong on defense. their offensive line will be good. they are going to be able to run the football. so i think when you look in this division and you look at the nfc west and it is no question, wide open, i believe in a team that wins eight games is going to win the division so jim expects to be competitive. >> he hasn't said the word play- off that i have heard so far. >> why would? he we're in week 4 of the preseason. jim -- it's the way he went about this whole thing. he is blue collar one day at a time and one meeting to the next so he keeps everybody in the dark about what his anticipation is but i know he expects to be competitive. that's the guy he is. >> we don't know who will start tonight so that's a good tease, gary gelfa
