joining us is congressman jim heinz, ranking member of the house intelligence committee. that's very much for being us with. there are some resppublicans to like this idea. we heard from mike mccaul, the foreign affairs chairman yesterday, saying he thinks a good package would be tying together ukraine funding, maybe taiwan funding with israel funding. do you believe that there are the votes there at least to tie more aid for israel to more aid for ukraine? >> yeah, poppy, that's a hard question to answer because my workplace, the house of representatives, right now is leaderless. we have no speaker. the question you are asking is fundamentally a question for the republican conference. you know, as the democratic party, just under 50% of the house, demonstrated the last couple of weeks, we are uniform in our support for ukraine and israel. not tote totally, but almost. what you are describing there is the fact that half the republicans have voted against ukrainian aid. mccaul supports both and he is making the point that that may be the easiest way to get it done. no spea

joining us, ranking member of the house permanent select committee on intelligence, jim heinz of connecticuterintelligence with the fbi, frank. how do you assess hamas' capabilities to do anything like they did on saturday morning? >> it's still early days, nicolle, and obviously there will be substantial alwayses done by the israelis over the intelligence failure but also why we didn't pick up more signs. our intelligence community has been worried about hamas for a long time. they make assessments on a regular basis on what they may or may not be doing. but the notion that air, land, and sea, gliders, rubber boats, 70 or 80 penetrations of the gaza wall, that is not something that doesn't get planned without an awful lot of people knowing it. i will tell you that both our intelligence community, i think the israelis are stunned by the failure, and they're also stunned by the operational capability of hamas. no one ever underestimated hamas' capability, but i'm not sure anybody realized that something of this magnitude could be concealed from what are probably the two finest intelligence co
