jim kavanaugh, i want to go back to you. we do have reports of multiple victims. ws does not have that number yet. jim, talk us through the conversations that her being had internally among these multiple organizations about how much information to share and win. >> well, it's going to depend on the situation inside, alicia menendez. do we have a situation here where the shooter has hit multiple victims and has committed suicide, which is a frequent leitmotif in these killings. we always talk about these things that around the periphery. we talk about mental health. but that's a low percentage of the shooters, really. we have hate motivated crimes. there's terrorist motivated crimes. we have all kinds of different reasons for mass shootings. but one thing we don't talk about enough, which runs through many of these is suicides. so, the person is suicidal, and then they decide that they are going to seek revenge on somebody that they are mad at. it may be the community at large. so, then they go to a very public place. or it could be somebody who is obsessed with ma

i want to bring in jim kavanaugh before we go. jim, where does this go from here? >> it's going to be a big investigation. either they're going to do a psychological autopsy on the killer. where is he been in his mind the last six months, what was his planning, why did he do this, what's his motivation. that's not going to be a prosecution if he's there in jimmy office was a rogue experience. just trying to see if we can stop the next one. it will take a long time if we have multiple deaths in, there will be the next few days, we're gonna have the areas shut down. they're gonna try to do the right thing for the families and get all the facts. it's really on some points, it's a hollow job because there isn't going to be a prosecution. and yet, america wants to know the facts and law enforcement is trained in their job and their habit is to get the facts. that's what they're gonna do. the issue a statement about why, when, how, so forth. hopefully, hopefully will help us stop the next one. but as the representative said, it's -- if you vote for the guys that only vot

obviously this is unfolding as we speak, i want to bring in former atf special agent in charge jim kavanaugh here. jim, unfortunately here we are again talking to you about another active shooter situation. the shooter not in custody. multiple people injured. we're looking at some video here from the scene. what are police on the ground likely doing right now to get this shooter in custody? >> well, they've gone and set up their command post on the street. you see a lot of officers with their tactical gear on. they've got the job, their task today is, you know, locate, isolate, and eliminate the threat. they've got to find the shooter and right now they don't have him. we don't know if they have him located or not, but what they've got to do is locate him, and hopefully that comes from citizens in the building, nearby who have heard the shots or see the person, and they'll call 911 to help the officers locate him. once they locate him in a room or a building, they can isolate him, squeeze him down, get the perimeter secured, and then they can evacuate behind them so they got to locate him, a
