let's bring into the conversation jim kavanaugh, msnbc terrorism analyst who's joining us on the phone. also with me, eddie glug junior, msnbc political analyst and chair of the african american studies department at princeton university. jim, i'll start with you. authorities are not identifying the suspect just yet. they did reveal that he is a white male in his early twenties. they found his manifesto's, one that was sent to his family, one to the public, one to federal agencies. the sheriff said very clearly, quote, that he hated black people. let's talk a little bit about what we know at this hour. how unusual is it to have this much information as a motive at this point, and when do you think they will be able to release his identity? >> i'd say we'll probably have his identity this evening sometime. the sheriff, the detectives are all over it. the federal agents, they'll be released pretty soon. he's a guy brimming with hate. he's -- and he's pulling over with hate. i've been around these guys, i've been around these guys, and the kids keep it in side. it spews out of them verbal

jim kavanaugh, let's have you back in this conversation. jim, background checks, is that something that uniformly across law enforcement they are in support of? in a situation like, this, granted we may still find more indications that 21-year-old bryan cristobal ryan palmeter who carried out this attack, a marketing use the word allied, she did it. he's on video doing, that he killed himself having done it. is there something that would indicate background checks could have been helpful in preventing these things from happening going forward? word is law enforcement stand on that? >> well, lot of force mints supports background checks. background checks are not an infringement on anyone second amendment rights. it's simply to check to see if you are a person who is a danger, who is prohibited from having the gun. you know, the pushback from the gun lobby is that it's too inconvenient. it's too inconvenient. you, know it's kind of inconvenient to walk through the metal detector at the airport, get wanda, take off your shoes, that's inconveni

joining me on the phone is jim kavanaugh, an analyst. jim, i hate that there is another time that we have to talk a bring you in here but i want to ask you, we know that he had left manifestos in his room, one allegedly to his, parents want to the media. what are your thoughts here on the sheriff's office saying that no one in their office is going to rest until they've held everyone to account. what does that look like? >> they don't think that anyone else is going to be charged, they don't see evidence of a criminal conspiracy with this guy. he was a mad dog that committed the state crime. they don't have any evidence, they haven't seen any evidence that he is a coconspirator, or criminal confederate that helped him. he has a larger group in the united states, and this pushes this on the social web, and all the hidden corners of the internet, but they are not promoting hey which is free speeds so unless they were definitely acting in concert with him, then there's no one to charge. if he didn't obtain the guns illegally, which they've a
