joining me now is jim moore. st contributor and author of the book "why rick perry will make america miss george w. bush." thanks for your time tonight, mr. moore. the closer we look, the dirtier it gets, it seems like. this guy is all about favors. do you think he would be that kind of president as well? >> oh, it's going to be on a grand international global scale when he becomes president. you mentioned the nuclear waste in west texas. that is being built by a guy named harold simmons who is one of his largest contributors. it's in a little town outside of sundown. it's in andrews county in west texas. the community has been torn up about this because the energy industry has gone away, but simmons came along and pushed it with the legislature. you also mentioned the commission on environmental quality, three of those people resigned when this was approved because there is an aquifer outç there which supplies water to the city of el paso and a number of farmers and ranchers and pecan growers out there. everybody

joining me is jim moore, the author of ""adios."irst of all, what do you make of the meeting between rupert murdoch and the governor of texas? how important was this? >> when i first heard about that, i was thinking maybe he's setting him up for a television program after he loses the election. who knows? obviously this is a guy whose favor he wants to curry. murdoch's reach in this country obviously with fox news, his network, his publications is very wide and he wants to curry favor with him. anything that the fox network broadcasts, perry wants it to be good news. he doesn't want anything to be critical. i think it's a combination of things. he's got a lot of friends who can raise a lot of money as well as exposing rick perry to a lot of positive publicity. >> well, last week it was donald trump in new york with governor perry. and i think that was all about the governor saying, hey, dude, don't go on tv and bad-mouth me, i'm one of the good guys, i'm going to lower your taxes. now here he is meeting with rupert murdoch. what abo

joining me now is jim moore. he is a "huffington post" contributor.ry will make america miss george w. push." steve kornacki, political columnist for salon.com. is it history for rick perry? is it over for him? >> i wouldn't go that far just because of the poll you just showed there, he's still up. i'm really curious to see another poll when it takes into account not just the debate or so but the week or so that's followed it. you look at that clip you showed in the debate, you look at the result from florida, i think both of those are very strong signs that at the very least we could say, this guy is totally failing to live up to his potential. because the promise of the rick perry candidacy to republicans was, he could pull off that line, he could confront mitt romney on these crimes against conservatism, he could speak for the base. instead he flubbed it. the promise of rec perry was all these second-tier conservative true believers, the michele bachmanns, the herman cains, the rick santorums, they go away because now the base has somebody. >> jim
