jim? >>> joining me to discuss, chief jimmy perdue of the north richland hills police department in texas, also president of the texas police chiefs association. officer, good to have you on this morning. >> thank you, jim. good morning. >> first, i want to get your perspective as someone with years in law enforcement in the state of texas. there were more than 4,000 gun deaths in texas in 2020, that's up from just under 2500 in 2005 when you became police chief there. from your perspective, why? why the increase in gun violence? >> i think you have seen a proliferation of guns all throughout the entire country and the ability for people and the willingness for people to use them more frequently and more willingly. it is more than just access. it is more of a culture issue across the country and availability of weapons. and also just the devaluation in general i believe has called people to be more willing to use those weapons and those areas and we have seen it go across the country from coast to coast. it is not just endemic in one particular area. >> no question. i heard it from law enf
