joining us now to talk about it our "news watch" panel, jim pinkerton, contributing editor and writerrvative" magazine. alan colmes is the host of the alan colmes radio show. jim, i asked earlier, is the tingle gone? >> i think it is. there is clear disappointment in a lot of reporters you mentioned, dana milbank, jonathan alter and joe klein. there is another mead waa wave of the president, he is not as good as he was in '08. he was not transformational figure like like we hope he was. we have to give him advice how to win. he obviously needs our help. people like frank rich saying that obama should blast romney with like a 1964 daisy ad. see david gregory look, remind people how terrible it was under bush. see chris matthews every show is pretty much an invitation please watch so i can tell you how to win your election that is the new plan. jon: on, over the weekend, alan, matthews said to his panel something like, you know, can he still win this thing? >> i'm confused because for so long all we did was criticize chris matthews and criticize people like frank rich who are liberal co

jim pinkerton is writer for the american conservative magazine, alan coomes is host of the alan coomest's worth mentioning the gubernatorial recall electricals don't happen all that often, jim, i guess three times in history and the last time most of us remember because it was gray davis in california. how do you think the media are covering it? >> i think the media were completely on fire, the mainstream media, that is, on the whole walker fight with the legislature over the reducing the benefits and power of the public employee unions. i was noticing neil was saying unions. it's really the public employee unions and within that category certain public employee unions. what's been so striking has been the falloff in coverage over the last few months. i'll trying to think of why that could be, why the media were so intensely interested a year ago, and now, less interested now. it could have something to do with the fact that it looks like walker is going to win n. which case maybe the media don't want to give a platform to the republican victory. i don't know jon alan, do you see it th

joining us now is jim pinkerton a contributing editor and writer for the american conservative magazinees is host of the alan colmes radio show. jim, what do you think of this? would you expect andrea mitchell to at least say, hey you know what, made a mistake we should have played the full clip, we miss republicanned what happened. >> she was a very distinguished foreign affairs reporter at nbc. i guess she wants to maintain her new gig at msnbc and that means stick to the party line over there. the way she set it up, this reminds me of the 1992 supermarket scanner with president bush 41 where in a different media environment "the new york times" and everybody else reported that bush 41 didn't know when a supermarket scanner was. they tried to do that now to mitt romney 20 years later, but the difference is there is now bloggers watching the stuff too and paying close attention who have access to the same videotape. a blogger named super mexican, that's his name, not mine, his name, caught it, and now we see that this is just msnbc trying to mug mitt romney and it shows the difference

it's getting a lot of coverage in the news media let's talk about it with jim pinkerton is a contributinger for the american conservative magazine. combalan colmes is host of the alan colmes radio show. alan i don't think the president had a tell louisiana prompter when he made that remark. >> you know he can't speak without a teleprompter. he meant to say because the corporations about $2 trillion in cash and their profits are back to pre recession lef levels, there is less problems than in the public sector. the real problems in the public sector where contrary to what mitt romney says, we need more police, more fire and more teachers, more fire people, that is really the story that romney goes on about how obama is out of touch, because we need police, fire and teachers, as if that is a bad thing? that's really the story and what the media should be focusing on stphaot unemployment rate is going north not south, what do you make of the president's comments and the coverage? >> i think the president made an error which is why within a few hours of his first press conference on friday he
