[applause] x please welcome best-selling historian and author candace moe lard. but mark clicks thank you so much. it is such an honor to be here, to be in the library of congress which is a national treasure. to be with the librarian of congress who is a national treasure. and to be with all of you. thank you for having me. one of the great regrets of my life happened at the national book festival 11 years ago. it was the first time i'd been invited to the festival so i was really excited. it was still in the mall at that time under the stunning series of big beautiful tents for history, fiction humor poetry, every category. and then there was an author's tent were authors could hang out. so after my event i went into that tent. i was talking with
