. >> i'm jim vance. 50 years after dr. martin luther king jr.old us his dream for america, we are reminded of how far we have come and how far we still have to go. just as 50 years ago today started with a march. thousands of people walking, some hand in hand, demanding jobs and justice. >> on the steps of the lincoln memorial where dr. king gave his most famous speech, we heard from congressman john lewis, the last surviving speaker from the 1963 event. members of the king family and former presidents bill clinton and jimmy carter also addressed the crowd. >> bells rang across this country at 3:00 this afternoon. 50 years after dr. king called upon america to let freedom ring. president obama honored those who marched for all that we have today but he also said the march isn't over. >> the universe may bend toward justice but it doesn't bend on its own. to secure the gains this country has made requires constant vigilance not complacency. whether by challenging those who erect new barriers to the vote or ensuring that the scales of justice work
