i'll talk about the jim wright have at tcu.e jim wright was a long time the dallas fort worth area. he was born in fort worth and lived all over texas and oklahoma during his childhood. he went to weatherford college that's what brought him back to this area. he ran for the texas legislature after his service in world war ii and served a year there. then he became the mayor of weatherford, texas and from the forrship, he went on to run congress he was elected to congress to represent texas's inh straight district 1954. years and then0 in 1986, became the speaker of house of congress. 1989 he resigned from congress and came back to fort became a professor here at tcu where he taught in the political science department. he also authored many books and fixture around campus. we brought his paper here at tcu. we have them. we usually have several researchers a year come and do the paper and papers on his time in congress. politics of the cold war and ultimately, partisanship surrounding his resignation from congress and scandals. all those topics that people do research in. we do have a

when my uncle worked for jim wright, it was very much a blue town. there's a lot of rapid growth, a lot of dynamic system here.people coming in from everywhere. i would say for the first half of my life, it was not unusual at all to be in fort worth, and when you met someone, they had some sort oftory he. they had some sort of history or story about being here. now you meet people here that have absolutely no history. that's bad because we want people to know the history, but it is good because we want new people here. we have people bringing their education, bringing their families, that are coming here to grow and prosper, and help this place continue to grow, just like when our grandparents moved here from navarro county and finally decided to settle in what -- fort worth. my dad's family decided to settle from marshall, texas and move here to fort worth. we need new people, new growth, new people to come here and learn about the history, the characteristics of fort worth, and make their own history. i say, on, we need growth, keep coming. is good
