. >> reporter: jimmy barretta took the chance. he hired mike kemp who's been visually impaired since birth. >> mike is great at leading teams. he shows a lot of confidence. >> how did you feel when you heard the statistic that 80% of the blind and visually impaired community is unemployed? >> i was floored! and i found these folks were so intelligent and so in tune with everything around them, there just is no reason not to at least give them a chance. >> reporter: kemp does project management work for brio solutions. he leans into his computer to see the type. a simple accommodation for a dedicated and valuable employee. >> mike as you go about your career, do you see yourself as blind and visually impaired people can bring to these types of jobs? >> we all want to contribute to the world. and i have a 2-year-old son at home, so i want to make a world that i want him to live in. >> mike has placed 30 people through the blind institute of technology. his goal is 10,000. and knowing mike, i think he's gonna do it!
