. >> reporter: at 1:30 this afternoon, 64-year-old joanne segovia, the union's office manager, will appear before a federal magistrate on charges of drug trafficking. the federal complaint alleges segovia had 61 drug shipments mailed to her san jose home from hungary, india, and singapore and she allegedly districted them by mail to other states. in complaint number 44, segovia's phone number is linked to an alabama man who died of an overdose in 2022. in another line, in a chat with someone in india, she says, sorry for the delay, i had 50 new officers start toy. segovia allegedly used the union u.p.s. account and a union email in some of those transactions. but the union president said that as office manager she had no decisionmaking power and no access to the union's finances. she is on leave and under investigation by the union and will likely be terminated. in that federal complaint, federal investigators also say she told them in a voluntary interview earlier this month she blamed a woman she knows as a family friend and as a housekeeper for having those drugs delivered to her home.

fox two starts now. 64 year old joanne segovia is accused of importing thousands of synthetic opioid pills and then distributing them across the country. good evening, everyone i'm mike mibach, prosecutors say the leader of the san jose police union has seen apart bit of part of the scheme for seven years. ktvu henry lee joins us now with the latest details. greg, authorities say between october 2015 and january of this year, segovia had at least 61 shipments of pills mailed to her home in san jose that were labeled as party favors makeup, chocolate and sweets. federal prosecutors say segovia, who is a civilian, not a sworn officer , user, personal and office computers. to order thousands of pills to her home from abroad. this is a photo over from her linkedin page. authorities say the shipments came from india, hungary, singapore and other countries. the criminal complaint alleges that segovia was arrested as part of an ongoing homeland security investigation into a network that was shipping controlled substances into the bay area, and we went by an address associated with her. neig
