jodi hernandez has been talking to worried dog owners. she joins us live. jodi. >> reporter: jessica, i'll tell you those owners have been absolutely beside themselves all day wondering what has become of their dogs. now, we can tell you that 24 of the dogs have been located and are being cared for here at the oakland animal shelter. but as many as six more could still be missing. >> i have zero complaints. i mean, you can ask any of my clients. i take excellent care of the dogs. >> reporter: but more than two dozen dogs that julie was hired to transport ended up missing for hours this morning. after the van they were in was stolen from a fremont hotel parking lot. >> we were able to ping the van and the location of the van. so, officers were searching the area to rescue these dogs. that's how we were able to locate it at this location. >> i just gave them a big hug for finding my van and dogs. >> police found the dogs in east oakland and arrested a man they say was trying to sell the pups. >> we suspect one of the subjects was trying to sell the dogs. >> r

jodi hernandez joins us with the new developments.> reporter: raj, i'll tell you two dog owners have already picked up their pups. another one, we're told, is on his way driving here from washington as we speak. i'll tell you it has been an emotional couple of days for those dog owners. you're looking at some of the stolen dogs who are being cared for at the oakland animal shelter after surviving a terrifying ordeal yesterday. police recovered the dogs in oakland aboard a transport van that was stolen from a fremont hotel parking lot. now animal control is working to reunite the pups with their owners. >> my hope for these dogs is their safety and welfare and they -- if they're owned, they get back to their rightful owner. if they're headed to a rescue, that they get their safely. >> reporter: this rescue dog named ava was on her way to their new family in washington. they've been worried sick. >> she hasn't had an easy life and the idea for us was to give a dog that doesn't have a perfect medical record and is not going to be a candi
