jodi hernandez joins us live at the oakland police department. jodi, this will be key to the investigation. >> reporter: that video shows how it all went down. nobody was killed in the shootout, i have to warn you, the video you're about to see is graphic. >> we have to protect ourselves. you have to do whatever you have to do. >> reporter: this video appears to show the extreme measures an east oakland taco truck owner used to protect himself earlier this morning. the taco truck was cleaning up, when two men approached and appear to point a gun at him. to this suspect's surprise, the taco truck owner pulled out his own weapon, igniting a full-on gun battle. >> the owner was a victim of a gunshot wound, additionally, one of the suspects that tried to rob the owner suffered from gunshot wounds as well. >> it's just the latest in a rash of holdups involving food trucks. on december 30th, a 5-year-old boy was shot and killed at his family's taco truck. two workers were wounded last summer. >> it would be hard getting so cold blooded. we need to -- >
