our channel 13's jodi whitworth is keeping an eye on road conditions... she joins us now live from outside our who studios in des moines. aid lib current conditions it takes a lot of manpower to clear the roads during a major storm like this... but the city's new snow plowing techniques is proving to be 561500 - it does allow us to put a lot more trucks on the most important streets so we can get it cleared from curb to curb with one pass this is just the second time public works has put its new plow wing formation to the test... the tactic uses up at five snow plows at once -- only on the major roads -- and clears them in one pass. plows will remove snow on the major roads first -- then work their way inwards to the residential side streets. last night --- crews laid a salt - brine solution on the road to help the snow not stick the road.. and crews say that along with road temperatures helped make today's snow removal easier. the public works directors say that was not the only thing that worked in 551404 - i think it helps that were in- between holiday
