good news for joe biden. here's one potential warning sign in the polls for joe biden. it's the enthusiasm issue. we asked biden supporters, are you extremely enthusiastic about the choice? 29% of them said they are. compared to the rest of the candidates combined we are at 39% that say they are enthusiastic about the choice. there is a gap there. we checked in on the issue of electability and when we asked iowa democrats, are you looking for someone who can beat trump or to agree on the issues it's not a close contest. take a look. 65% want someone with a strong chance to win. 31% shares your issue position. in new numbers releasing now in the next installment of the cnn des moines register iowa poll we looked at the qualities that some of the candidates have, personality traits, if you will, to find out which one voters thought was the biggest advantage. look at this. washington experience comes out on top. 52% say that's an advantage for the candidate. good news for joe biden. look at the bottom end of the scale. only 1% said being over the age of 70 is an advantage.

they are going right at joe biden's strong point. i agree with everything that's been said about him needing to get out there. there was good news for biden in the poll. the best is the idea that 65% of the iowa caucus goers believe electability is the most important. that's a shift. if you go back two, three months, the party was evenly divided between people who wanted somebody who agreed on the issues or someone who could beat trump. the mueller report really crystallized this for democrats as in we want the guy who can beat the president -- who can beat president trump. the second one was d.c. experience means something. that number hasn't been above 10% in decades. my big takeaway besides it being mixed but good for biden and the other reason it's good for biden is you have three candidates who are splitting evenly the younger, more progressive vote. there is no reason to believe one of them is going to -- sanders will stay in. he has a floor of 10 to 13%. buttigieg is the wildcard. he's just a good candidate. elizabeth warren is

what's the strategy for joe biden in iowa? >> well, you know, craig i think the strategy is a couple things. i think that they are trying to keep joe biden in a situation where he's not making gaffs. he's known as being gaff prone. i don't think it's necessarily a detriment. i think in many ways it's an ass asset. he's not going to be able to do this for long. iowa caucus voters what to do what we call pressing the flesh. they want to talk to candidates direct dire directly. they like these small events where they're in a room with 20 other people talking directly to the candidate himself or herself. i don't think that joe biden's strategy in this regard will stay in place very long. we're seeing the polls tightening, i think that will continue, which means joe biden will have to do everything he can in order to touch as many voters as he possibly can in iowa. he spent a lot of time, he's run for president twice before. he's spent a lot of time in iowa. he's gotten great standing, deep relationships in that state. at the same
