joe huisinga, cbs 2 news live at five. right now, lawmakers in the iowa senate are hearing from the state's medicaid director on how prepared iowa is for privitizing the medicaid system. system.my colleague scott sanborn joins us now nowwith what they're karen - the plan to move iowa's medicaid system from state-controlled to for-profit last month. it was supposed to take effect january first, but after federal officials visited with patients, caregivers and state wasn't ready. that echoed the call of many who claimed the quick switch- over brought more confusion than it did answers. officials with the centers for medicare and medicaid services told state leaders their plan would be delayed until march first - providing certain conditions be met. those conditions include patients having a means for their questions to be answered and the program having proper state oversight. recent reports suggest the state would have to hire about 134 people to handle that oversight. and that would cost the state about 17-million dollars.
