the key thing, and joe palafano, the chief domestic policy advisor spoke of in the wake of the tragedies of 1968 the assassination of martin luther king, of bobby kennedy, that johnson and palaphano knew that time is of the essence, and i think that's made even more starkly in light of what we now know about the nra's strategy in the wake of tragedy after tragedy, columbine, virginia, aurora, now. i'm hoping that the political will is strong because the time for meaningful conversation will be with us forever, but the time for political action is now. >> karen, peggy noonan is advocating much the same, actually, in the "wall street journal" saying do something, do anything, but do it now. >> absolutely agree, and i think it's critical. the "new york times" wrote a great piece over the weekend about some of the members that the department of justice looked at after aurora that can be done without congress, that the president could take action on this week if he wanted to. i hope that that's part of the conversation that is going on in the white house about sort of looking at steps going forward. here's the thing that i think the reason why we have to press the action
