thank you so much to joe mathieu.e want to turn back to the decision from the supreme court and bring in one of the true constitutional law experts of this generation. lawrence tribe is a leading constitutional scholar from harvard, and who has argued cases before the supreme court in his career. professor tribe, thank you for being with us. let me start with one of the more important questions. a lot of people who disagree with this decision say that it is not principled. is it unprincipled? professor tribe: it strikes me as profoundly unprincipled, because the supreme court has long said that decisions of great durability on the basis of which people have reshaped their lives, should not be overruled in the absence of some extraordinary change, other than the near personnel of the court. nothing has happened other than essentially the trump packing of the court, the addition of three justices select better donald trump. nothing has changed since roe v. wade to justify suddenly and for the first time in the court's h

joe mathieu's giving is a take from on the ground. joe, what is it like in front of the supreme court right now? joe: it is quite a scene. and standing in front of the court and there are a couple of thousand people. i would not attempt to count who are here, but this crowd keeps getting bigger, and you can hear the activity behind me. it is definitely a pro reproductive rights crowd here. there are a few pro-life activists, but those who are streaming -- they are coming from all over. watching them come down 1st street in front of the court. some of them walking around capitol hill. they have a dj set up. some people are singing songs. there has been a call and response going. a lot of people are yelling in anger and we are seeing journalists from all over the world gather here. some of the signs -- one of them, abortion on demand, no apologies. we have been hearing that refrain go on for some time. so far, it is important to note that it has been orderly. no shoving. no pushing. capitol police here are at ease, but it is a hot day in

we have one research alongside bloomberg's joe mathieu to talk about the d.c. perspective. why don't we start with that? we will get into the nitty-gritty on the economics but in terms of the democratic or republican support from a maneuver like this, what are you hearing right now? joe: not a lot of support to be honest. while americans might love the idea, may be taking a dollar off of a gallon of gas, it does not have the democratic and republican support on capitol hill to make it happen. the president is going to talk in the next hour and he was working on a decision about this. the fact is congress must approve of this idea. three-month suspension of the federal gas tax is $.18 a gallon. the white house says you combine that with states lowering their taxes or suspending them altogether, which are bigger than the federal ones, and promptly oil companies to produce more and we will have a meeting tomorrow on that at the white house. it could lower prices by as much as a dollar. the other side of this is, advised the way we have been down this road before, it has been p

joe mathieu, 5:00 p.m. with an important show. 4% yield on italy.on might 100 year, how about that credit? how is credit corporate's doing in america? lisa: corporate has actually done better until a month ago, in terms of how much the total return has been in terms of relative debt. average yield on just bonds, hasn't been high yields for a long time. nearly 8% yields on average from u.s. high-yield bonds. this is indicating people are concerned about credit, making it a bigger cushion for higher yields. this is a conundrum a lot of people fear, not facing into a big charity cycle. what is going to make them default? people are trying to bring forward a recession that has yet to happen. this is why the fed is going to keep going. tom: we will go more on the markets today, futures at -91. six out five big figures, well over 32. sterling, is ferro in sterling? lisa: no. tom: ok.
