[applause] >> my background is in engineering. i am a civil engineer by training. my career has really been around government service. when the opportunity came up to serve the city of san francisco, that was just an opportunity i really needed to explore. [♪♪♪] [♪♪♪] i think it was in junior high and really started to do well in math but i faced some really interesting challenges. many young ladies were not in math and i was the only one in some of these classes. it was tough, it was difficult to succeed when a teacher didn't have confidence in you, but i was determined and i realized that engineering really is what i was interested in. as i moved into college

we took earlier to show you just how muchúwater we are we talkede supervisor for this district, joel engardioe tells me that around 930 this morning, the resident that is closest to that water main felt a rumble that they describe. initially they thought was an earthquake. they looked out and saw that geyser out a gigantic crater near thed- home. there are crews here in the area assessing the home, assessing the surrounding area. it took crews about an hour to get that water shut off to this location. that water stopped right around 1130. now, at this time, the city's public utilities commission and water and sewer department are investigating to see what actually may have been of this water main break. we've also asked just how big that water main was. point. but again, you got a sense just from looking at it ie described. we have talkedúarea e saidúwhen they looked out and they saw it, it looked like it was a geyser outside. they said it reminded them of being in napa and actually watching a geyser. now the san francisco water, power and sewer, the public utilities commission said that some
