congratulations to joey logano, winner. >> and joining us now is sliced bread himself joey logano. that was certainly one of the more unpredictable races of the season. looking back at that race, how would you describe it? >> like you said, unpredictable. that was out of control. we went from running okay, we were about 15th and 20th place all day, and got a left rear cut-down and went down a lap. and we pitted later than everybody else. when we got the lucky dog we pitted and a lot of guys stayed out. gave us extra fuel to get the win. unpredictable would be the word. >> you made a pit stop yourself this week in your hometown of middletown, connecticut. what's it like coming back home as a winner? >> it was awesome. i couldn't believe all the people there at the home depot. we make store appearances at about every racetrack you go to. there was people everywhere. the race is a good two and a half hours away, and that place was packed. we did about two and a half hours of signing and they kept coming the whole time. it was really neat to see. it was cool to be back at the hometown

heartstopping crash during a nascar race in philadelphia is speaking out for the first time. 19-year-old joey logano was in the middle of the pack when he got nudged and lost control. he ended up flipping over a full seven times, but amazingly, he was able to walk away with barely a scratch. >> actually, i am fine. i was surprised. i got out of that thing. and i was a little dizzy, a little shooken up. but i have a stiff neck. goes to show how safe these new cars are. >> reporter: he says he believes the crash would have been worse if he slammed straight into a wall. >>> the great news from the american cancer society. the death rate from breast cancer in the united states continues to decrease, more than 2% every year. karen brown reports for wjz, with the reason behind the drop. >> reporter: linda warsheim was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer at 48. almost 12 years later, she is living life to the fullest. and there are more and more women like linda out there. the death rate has dropped 2 1/2%. that mean, this year alone, 15,000 lives will be saved. >> reporter: much of the improvement of bre

rookie driver, joey logano in his nascar race. over seven times it flipped.about the amazing safety and the rollercoaster ride he went on. walked away unhurt, unscathed. just an amazing testament to the vehicle he's in. but what would it have been like to be in that car? joey logano, in his own words. >> it's like going on a rollercoaster when you're little. and all you can say is stop, stop, stop. you don't want to be on it anymore. it was something like that. but it really wasn't that bad once it was over. we're ing on the back straightaway. you know, trying to get underneath the 96 car, going in the corner. he started coming down. i had to start coming off the throttle. so, i didn't hit him. and tony stewart was right behind me. he couldn't slow down in time. he kind of put me sideways. started going up the racetrack. and he got in the middle, all the traffic coming at me. and that kind of set the car rolling. it's not going to affect me a bit. it will give me more confidence when i'm out there, that you can go through a wreck like that and be okay. it put
