let's talk to the jeff and kathy and john.olitics. you have immigration -- >> you have been here before. >> and you have a sheriff involved in a scandal and the state is enormous and tight race in michigan and here and we don't have a republican front-runner now, and what is the most important issue when you talk to the people of arizona, what are they look fin for? >> well, i'm not sure, but right now the real dilemma is how to separate, and how do we find the candidate who has the best chance to beat barack obama. that is how certainly the conservative voters in arizona are looking at it. they don't strike me as all that keen on mitt romney, but by the same token they are not sold that santorum can can beat barack obama. so it is a strange thing that it is almost pushing some of those who were here for immigration and some of the other issues and those concerns are pushing the issue-oriented concerns off of the table, because they figure they are pretty much the same on the economic stuff, and more inclined to go with them,

john was a thoughtful young man with an inquiring spirit. in 1817 elias and john were invited to continue their studies at a new school in cornwall, connecticut, set up by the american board of commissioners for foreign missions, sort of a multicultural, liberal new england establishment. and for their experiment in assimilating young indians, the leading men of cornwall could not have selected better prospects better than boudinot and ridge. they came from homes already exposed to the strong missionary effort, and both boys were brilliant students, intent on becoming as civilized as white culture would allow. well, at cornwall they may have intended a full and complete assimilation of white culture, but what they got was quite unexpected and, in the end, disastrous. while in school there, the young men fell in love with two prominent local white girls and even more infamously married them. much to the shock and anger of the entire cornwall community. it was an anger that culminated in the couples being burned in effigy on the town square. t

i picked up a book by chance, the letters of john and abigail adams. the book of john and abigail. we're fortunate that someone had to save franklin's writings from the dust bin and preserve them for us. george washington is simpler. everybody who had his name on any piece of paper saved it, or obvious reasons. much like they saved robert e. lee's. as i began to read this book about john and abigail, i was struck by this is a love story. i didn't know that. john adams is the man,hi man w states government. think about, you know, the united states government. we sort of take it for granted. we have a senate in the house of representatives and all that kind of stuff. well somebody had to think of that. somebody had to sit down and write that down on paper how this was going to work. the person who did that is john adams, you know that. as i got into this story, i began discovering the character of abigail adams. abigail adams is the first american feminist. this woman was 100 years ahead of her time and with no education to support that. in this era, women were not allowed, in many c
