live in martinez, john alston, abc7 news. >> thank you. >>> ama dates is in boston tonight covering the bombing firsthand for us there. today she spoke with aaron's father about the attack and how his young son is doing. >> aaron hern is is an athletic and energetic 11-year-old. tonight he is sedated in children's hospital boston. he was with his dad, alan and little sister abbie waiting for mom katherine to cross the finish line when the first and then second blast went off. it was instant chaos. >> i saw my daughter and grabbed her and we ran a little up the street. >> he soon realized that aaron wasn't with them. >> i found him on the sidewalk on his back with some other people who were injured. he was conscious and he talked to me and said my leg really hurts, daddy. he was being pretty brave. >> someone used a belt to make a turnikut for aaron's leg. once at the hospital the family heard from the doctors. >> he is doing well considering. it was a major wound, but it was going to be all right. he had no injuries to anything vital. the bone wasn't broken and no arteries were cut. >>
