this charter amendment is sponsored by supervisor john avalos.f supervisors' support. if the supervisors pass this proposal today, it would allow this to be on the ballot. upon turning 16, young people can drive, work without limitations on five hours, pay taxes, take classes on government in school, are subject to adult criminal charges and, yet, are denied the right to vote. if passed, it would make it the first in the country to lower the voting age. >> they are more involved in politics a as they enter their 20s because it's not new to them in their 20s. that's something that started four or five years before. >> if teenagers were allowed to vote on the issues, it should be a requirement for schools to make that information available to them. >> now some people are critical, questioning the voting age below 18 which is the legal age of adulthood. there were some questioning the cost of lowering. and supervisors had concerns that, in the long run, while not cosponsoring the proposal, it's been reported they have said that they will at least vo
