. >>> all right, john berman along with christiane amanpour here in paris, outside the bataclan theater we believe about 80 people were killed last night in this wave of terror attacks across this city, that left at least 129 people dead. and we have breaking news on that front. at least one american was killed in the attacks, and we now have the identity. joining us now in washington, our justice correspondent, pamela brown. pam, what have you learned? >> reporter: well, we are learning from the california state long beach university that one of the victims killed in the paris attacks is 23-year-old nohemi gonzalez. this is according to a spokesperson for the university. this spokesperson telling cnn this she was studying abroad for a semester. she was one of nearly 80 foreign exchange students and she was studying design in paris. we know that there are so many american students who go overseas, go to paris, and study. she was one of them. and we are now learning the sad news that she was killed in one of the attacks yesterday. officials telling me, it's believed, at this stage, that

let's begin in paris with cnn's john berman. john, there have been extraordinary developments today in the paris massacre case, but first the shocking new isis video which clearly seems to threaten new york city. what are you learning? >> clearly threatening new york city, wolf. it's slickly produced, like many of the isis videos. we're not going to show it here. we will show you a couple still frames. what is in the video pictures of explosives, pictures of someone dressing himself with explosives, some kind of explosive device. and then footage of new york city itself including herald square where macy's is. obviously very crowded streets. did they shoot the video themselves somehow in new york city? we simply do not know. but clearly part of the psychological threat some of the psychological terror that isis seeks to spread around the world. now, while this video comes to surface just over the last few minutes, here in paris a stunning development as well with french authorities believing the man behind the attacks here on fri

i amm i am joined with john berman, christiane amanpour. tell us how we got here. >> reporter: we got here overnight. there was a lot of gunfire in sontene. what that was was this large law enforcement operation. we are told targeting, they believe abdelhamid abaaoud, he is believed to have been the mastermind behind friday's paris attacks here. they killed 129 people. they thought he might be there. >> reporter: that was the tip. what did they find when they got there? >> we are hearing from the french prosecutor one female killed herself inside the apartment where the raid took place. two other suspected terrorists killed. one possibly by sniper fire. the other unclear. crucially, three suspected terrorists are in custody. this will be extremely important. it's not just forensic evidence. it's human intelligence. you can be sure they will be questioning them until they are able achieve as much information gathering as possible from them. >> christiane you have been following these events pretty much from their inception this morning. they

let's begin in paris with cnn's john berman. john, there are extraordinary developments today, what's the latest information you have? >> dramatic speech today from the french president francois hollande who said in no uncertain terms france is at war. and that war now not just in syria where officials believe there is a mastermind behind these attacks, but also in the streets in france and belgium where there is believed to be a killer on the run. a plan conceived in syria, organized in belgium, launched in france. tonight authorities believe abdelhamid abaaoud, a belgian citizen and close associate of isis leader abu bakr al baghdadi is the mastermind behind the attacks. assigning it to a terror cell in the brussels suburb of molenbeek. seven of the terrorists are dead, but tonight a global manhunt for one suspect who managed to evade authorities at least once. this man, 26-year-old salah abdelsalam was questioned by french police headed to the belgian border in the hours just after the attacks. but he was not detained. one of
