army lieutenant general steph twitty and former cia director john brennan.the process of something this complicated actually working, getting hostages out either the north to israel or through soh, depending on where they are, through rafah. getting them out safely. what is the challenge here? >> i think there are many challenges, which is why it has taken quite a while to come to an agreement on this deal. there needs to be a clear understanding on the part of all parties involved on the terms of the deal. not just in terms of the pause in the fighting for the four or five days but especially for the transfer of the hostages as well as from the prisoners from israeli jails. presumably, the international committee at the red cross will be involved in facilitating the transfer, presumably it will take place incrementally. the timing and sequencing of that deal needs to be understood by all sides. in addition, i think there's concern that there could be some violations of this deal. frequently, that happens in pauses and cease-fires. what are the -- what will

. >> for people who questioned or just wrote this off, that changed when john brennan said somethingmportant a couple years ago. >> this has been a topic that serious people are now talking about seriously. there was a wave of reporting in 2017 about the pentagon's activities around ufo and uap citings. john brennan gave this interview in 2020 where he said in effect there's something out there flying around, it puzzles us and may constitute something that may be a new form of life. that's a startling comment from someone like john brennan, former white house security adviser, if he wants to know the answer to the question, there are a lot of people to answer that question and if he's leaving with a question like this, that's worth diving in to me. >> did you feel there's a lot the government country know that it's not talking about or is there ignorance in terms of their willingness to find those answers. >> this is one of the things that's difficult to untangle fact and fiction and mythology. there is a government cofferup around ufos, not necessarily what people think it is. some

joining me now is john brennan, the former director of the cia and now an msnbc national security andligence analyst. director brennan, thank you for being here. one thing that has struck me over an interesting facet of all of this is that these negotiations are being led by a representative from mossad, and one from the cia, of course in addition to the qataris. how unusual is that set of talks, if you will, between mossad and the cia? >> well, the cia has had very strong and long-standing ties to mossad. and it's not surprising to me that cia is involved heavily in these discussions because the negotiations with hamas are taking place through intermediaries. in this case it's mostly the qataris, but also the egyptians. the cia also has contacts, some very close relations, between the qataris and egyptian intelligence. so therefore massage, being external intelligence organization of israel, also has dealings with egyptians and the qataris. again, it's unsurprising with these very sensitive negotiations are taking place in intelligence channels. i think with great confidence in playe
