john cox not a part of it. jerry brown is gone.nger to the national spotlight. he's known for same-sex marriages in san francisco and he parlayed that into his becoming governor, succeeding jerry brown. his biggest challenge is going to be trying to deal with poverty and homelessness in the state, something governor brown managed not to doo do in his eight year -- to do in his eight years. they're old family friend, but he's definitely got a challenge in front of him and he's got a democratic majority in the statehouse as well orit in both the assembly and senate they could override a veto. he doesn't have a gravitas that jerry brown does. he might butt heads legislature more than brown did. they deferred to brown quite a bit. gavin newsom might not be in for such a smooth ride when he takes the role. and by the way, he's not sworn in until january. we have a few months. i know he's eager to go but we have a few months. >> definitely going to have to earn his stripes. a live look at the u.s. capital where for the first time in eigh
