now back to john collins. good morning. >> thank you.e have a few scattered clouds out there this morning. there is a weather disturbance in the great lakes. it has kick some snow up and parts of ohio, pennsylvania, and new york state. it may contribute to some clotted yesterday in the area. we do expect more snow -- more sun than yesterday. we're done with the snowfall for a while. maybe a day or two. speaking of snowfall, this weekend, is a big anniversary for the big snow, the biggest single december snowfall on record in baltimore. happened on the 18th and 19th of december. it was the first of three big ones that hit last winter. ellicott city, 23 inches. westminster, 18.8 inches. these are two-day totals. yesterday's storm was not even close to that. on the 19th, we don't have snow in the forecast. it looks like it could be a sizable storm. let's look to the temperatures. kind of lock the still win. one to 2 inches. it is frozen now in the area. watch for ice on the streets. edgewood, 22. 21 in westchester. in the teens in the mount

let's check the forecast with john collins. not a lot of speculation yesterday. >> i think it was related to the temperatures. for a couplecalleold of weeks. i think a lot of people took off early from work. credit the highways. everything just came together. it was not good -- crowded the highways. it was not good. this morning we're dealing with some of high temperatures. if you did not clear your sidewalk last night, it will be i see this morning. let's look it some of the temperatures. around the beltway, bwi, 21 degrees. gamestop, 22. cockeysville, 20. martin state airport, 27. rock hall, 23 degrees. a little chilly up there. we're looking at another storm comment this weekend, or at least getting near us. how much snow, we are not sure. we'll tell that coming up. let's check on the traffic. here is kim dacey. >> the major roadways are mostly clear. leave extra time. the side streets are the areas we're seeing some crashes. one is that eastern. watch out for that. a vehicle is stopped on the median. some fluids in the road

john collins joins us with what to expect, with his snowman tie on and everything. >> what more can we do about it? the air is quite dry about now, we were looking at some of the highway pictures, and it is blowing around on the pavement because the pavement is very cold. we are going to be on the north edge of this storm as it moves across the mid-atlantic region. that is the cold side of the storm, and that means snow. you can see on our hd doppler radar all the white and blue- shaded areas are where the snow is falling. that reaches down into some parts of northeast north carolina. the darker blue shades is where the snow is heaviest right now. we go to a pink shade, a mix of ice, sleet, and some rain mixed in. then there is some activity down into tennessee and north carolina. the heaviest parts of the storm will stay to the south. we will get something here. we will detail it all coming on- coming up in the is the weather was forecast in a minute. it is just a one-day thing. >> the snow blames -- brings slick conditions. local officials have a handle on things this time around? ge

let's go first to john collins. it is looking a little overcast this morning. >> it is cloudy and cold. it would be colder if it weren't for the clouds. all week long we have had our eyes on a developing storm that's moving in this direction. everybody thought for a while there -- especially early last week and last weekend, this looked like it might be a nor'easter trying to develop on the east coast. most computer models are saying the storm won't be that big of a problem, especially around the mid-atlantic region. the theory is continuing, as it looks like the storm will be an off-shore event. there you see it to our south and southwest. its not terribly impressive now. then it will be too far away to have a huge impact on our weather. we start getting into how things will go on christmas weekend as well. we'll detail it all with the insta-weather plus forecast. >> our big story this morning is the case that has parents outraged. the 21-year-old man arrested, but not before sneaking into a local middle school and

collins, george voinovich have all publicly back this. senator judd gregg told reporters that he was leaning toward supporting the treaty. bob corker said that he has not made a decision yet. john, a democrat -- your next. caller: i was in the military for four years and the national guard in 32 years. i'm not anti-military whatsoever. i have followed military procurement. what this whole argument about -- it is not about whether 1500 ready bombs are enough. what it is about is a missile defense system. a lot of the higher-ups in the military are tired of spending money on it. we've spent almost $300 billion in the last 25 years on that system. it does not work. there are a lot of higher-ups in the senate and congress who are saying, let's drop it, let's get rid of it. it has gone so far that, to keep it going, they actually pushed through and had it deployed -- a system that does not work -- so they can sell it to the american public how great it is -- only defending the west coast with the period ended tour, we are not. we're going to put it in europe or defending europe -- no, we are not. this whole argument is about, let's keep the missile defense, let's spend more money on
