we have newscopter 7 up above and we'll say good morning to john del giorno. good morning john. >> good morning and you can see some of the leftover activity here on the wittpenn bridge on route 7. this was an overnight jackknifed tractor-trailer that had the roadway shut down in both directions. we got here on the scene about 20 minutes ago, the tractor- trailer was cleared but there's a truck out here doing some sanding. i would imagine there was a pretty sidessable fuel spill on the roadway and that's probably what necessitated this closure in both direction -- closure in both directionst. closure of course big delays now as you come across route 7 from harrison and carnie. really the only road that gets you over here from that area. and you can see the roadway is closed all that traffic being diverted on to local streets and fish house road. the one might be a good one to avoid for the time being. we're live over route 7 in jersey city, john del giorno, channel 7 eyewitness news. >>> thank you. >> we have 6:30 and we're following the latest developments on

we have newscopter 7 you have above and john del giorno showing us this accident. good morning to you john. >> and good morning to you heather. this is one of those delays although as we pull around the city so far today i think the volume is a little bet lighter than normal. -- bit lighter than normal. the getaway usually begins like i say the day before getaway day has become get away day. more traffic the afternoon but this morning we have this problem and this is in front of laguardia airport. on the westbound side of the grand central parkway. the accident itself is on the service road just before 94th street. but you can see it's right at the front door of laguardia. the service road itself, that's backed up. bumper to bumper on back towards the marina. the main line of the grand central it's rubber necking delay and stop and go traffic begins just after city field up through the area of the airport and as we've been saying heather you know the deal. going to the airport today allow plenty of extra time. we've got all that extra volume especially this afternoo

this accident northbound 2 we have newscopter 7 up above it now and we're going to check in with john del giorno. any progress there john? >> just getting over the scene here and it doesn't look like a whole heck of a lot of progress. there's a lot of activity here on the scene and newscopter 7 up over clifton, new jersey. this is the ramp as i look at the window, looks like the ramp from the southbound side it's actually a common ramp from route 21 to the eastbound lanes of route 3. and there you have that overturned tractor- trailer. we're told this is an over the road garbage hauler is that tractor-trailer -- so that tractor-trailer was carrying garbage and you can see the trailer portion of it is on its sides on that guardrail. so this ramp here is shut down again that's 21 to eastbound route 3 taking you towards the lincoln tunnel. heather i think this will be out here for quite some time. >> thank you very much for that john. also going to take a look at a web cam and show you the construction that we have on the fdr drive. you can see that vehicle still in the right lane pushing everybody

is that correct john del giorno? >> that is correct heather crease to this. this is on the new jersey turnpike but right where the planes take off from now ark airport. you can see the activity. on the western spur of the turnpike right at interchange 15 w. where interstate 280 meets in with the turnpike, you can see all the activity out there again this was a southbound overturned tractor-trailer. two lanes are shut on the southbound side and at least one lane shut s shut on the -- is shut on the northbound side as well. what is this going to do to traffic? first of all southbound traffic obviously you will find i, delays -- you will find delays. northbound traffic as well and what the eastern spur looks like. this is the alternate volume headed north on the eastern spur. even if you use the eastern to head up towards the lincoln tunnel, that's where all the alternate volume is going to go. so you can expect delays at the lincoln tunnel to be a bit heavier than normal this morning. heather? >> big mess there. now in addition to that, the other alternate woul
