let's bring in john manly from wells fargo funds., a couple of guests on our show suggested that this could turn into something that resembles a correction. 10% or more to the downside. do you agree? >> i don't agree. i think it may have a potential to trade down to 1905. when you step back and look at the bigger picture, we still have some positive data going on in the united states. manufacturing continues to do well. durable goods factory orders. ism service index. we look at the job picture. initial unemployment claims, nonfarm payrolls. all of this is pointing to an expanding economy going on in the united states. really what the problem is the strength of the dollar, concerns about economic weakness overseas, concerns about the federal reserve. i think what you're going to see going on over the next few weeks is the earnings report starting to stem some of this tide. i think what you're going to see better earnings reports, cautionary comments from some companies but going forward you're looking at 12% earnings growth for the s

did you see what john stump says? ceo of wells fargo., we continue to see signs of a steadily improving economy. jamie dimon at j.pmorgan went ot of his way. mr. dimon said the u.s. economy is an exception, showing signs of steady improvement. two bank ceos making comments about the u.s. economy that were positive this morning. take a look at the earnings from the big banks. citi beat on earnings and revenues to the upside, jpmorgan was a miss. wells fargo, let's call it roughly in line with expectations to the downside. away watched wells, you heard this earlier from david. 60% of their revenues are community banking. biggest mortgage originator in the country. loan growth. i don't know what happened in commercial. that was really a great number. 2.6% increase in commercial, consumer, kind of a slight disappointment, down 1.4%. mortgage banki ingbanking, we'r. but the originations, the amount of loans they made were up 2%. i think the problem is, the decline in rates means that mortgage revenues go down a little bit. and i think that wa

let's bring in our guests, chief equity strategist at wells fargo and managing director and equity strategist with miller tailback. john, are you finding more tricks than treats? >> i think it is good. i try never to get enthusiastic or scared. i think the pressures that pushed the market up are still in place. the fed, the earnings, valuations that are neutral, everything in place. >> what is the biggest risk? i love saying good news to our viewers. there are always things out there you need to be mindful of. >> i think potential is what happens to earnings. next year's number has been coming down a little bit. that is not unusual. this is october. i think it is important to keep an eye on earnings. so far they are good. so far that supports what the fed is doing. if it really turns a bit more dicy then we have issues. i don't predict those things. i let tomorrow worry about itself. >> i understand there are things that do make you nervous in the market. one of them is volume. you have been on "street signs" talking about this as an indication of things. >> it is always a concern about i don't worry about the volume c
