john goia.. told me as far as he knows.. no local officials or law enforment have been informed about this. it is the federal government who owns this stie.. but gioia tells us for the last 12 years.. the city of concord has been working with federal representatives to tranfer the former naval weapons base to the city. it's been a very involved community progress..giving input for housing and retail and business. so the supervisor tells me.. this plan came as a total shock.he says.. this plan runs counter to everything people believe in contra costa.in fact, the county launched a program in march to provide deportation defense services to immigrant families who are at risk of deportation as well as health care services to immigrants regardless of their status. so he gioia tells me .. he expects major opposition. <"i am confident that we will see the cities as well as the county and residents across our county rise up and lobby at every level, federal, state and local. ultimately i don't think it will happen. i feel that there is enough strength here and ultimately, elections matter and this is why people need to be involved in the november elections
