tally was four to one in favor of boostn that's the same vote it's been each time and supervisor john harris, the lone "no" vote explained it's because of the opposition he's heard from mainly small business owners in the rural areas and smaller communities. supervisors had to vote on three separate occasions for the county wide change in minimum wage rules to take effect. with the change, the state and federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour goes to $8.25 in linn increases take place in january of 2018 and january of 2019 with the county wage topping out at $10.25 an hour roughly two and a half years from now. one supervisor says as more counties take action it's more likely state lawmakers will step in. "what the state has to do first is having a conversation about minimum wage and then we'll see what the state does about counties that enact their own and if there's no legislative action this session i guarantee you there will be a lot more counties following our lead" city councils in various linn county communities could adopt their own local ordinances to change the minimum wage structure
